You know, I personally use dreamhost, but I am willing to side with you on this.

I don't think Dreamhost is BAD, but I have had a few minor issues that required technical support. However, I have only been with them for a little over 1 month now. However, I do see a shit load of those referral programs floating around, and you KNOW the people referring them have probably several year's worth of free hosting by now :)

Then again, if Dreamhost is going to offer a referral program, can you blame Mike, Keith, or Jeffrey for taking advantage? Free hosting is never a bad thing.

I'm not saying that Dreamhost's actual hosting services are bad. Actually, I have a friend that has a site with them. It's just that in my experience there are others (Site5.com is the best and offers the fastest and friendliest support I have ever gotten from a web host) that offer a much better experience from an admin's point of view as well as comparable, if not better, deals on space and bandwidth. So, I figured, with so many people so zealous about Dreamhost, there had to be some outside force swaying these people to evangelize for them. Money talks.

And I'm certainly not blaming anybody for taking whatever DH or anybody else gives them for referrals or whatever else. Hell, I have Google ads on this site.
